Road trips with Conures and Huskies: Here is What I Discovered!

Kyra is a rescue that I adopted when she was just 5 months old. She recently celebrated her 9th birthday. Her litter was the first and only litter that her mother had. Her mom was diagnosed with juvenile cataracts and should never have been bred despite her beautiful coloring and disposition. Kyra was the sole survivor of that litter. I adopted her knowing full well she may have health problems, and sure enough she developed a juvenile cataract by the time she was 2. She has. a very sweet disposition but can also be quite bossy (leadership skills, right?). Oh, and she comes completely unglued when it comes to her favorite food, PIZZA!

Apollo came to our family as a stray just wondering around the neighborhood. He was very dirty, smelled foul, was very thin,  sing fur, and had sunburn on his snout. He did regurgitate a plastic bag a couple of hours after we brought him in, likely from scavenging for food. My daughter and daughter-in-law bathed him, fed him, and kept him safe until I came home. We took pictures and posted them on missing pet websites, Facebook group for missing pets, even called the local shelters and veterinarian offices to see if he was reported missing; he was not microchipped. My favorite past time those first few weeks was him crawling on top of me to cuddle. Nothing quite like an 80 pound, clingy lap dog! Whoever gave up this handsome fella really is missing out on such a playful, sweet, and loving dog!
